Midrand Chapel is a member of the Sola 5 Association of churches, which is a fellowship of churches across southern Africa, aimed at promoting the sound doctrine we hold in common, and strengthening and planting like-minded local churches.
Once a month the leadership of the Sola 5 churches in Gauteng meet for fellowship, prayer and discussion around God’s Word.
The purpose of this fraternal is “To foster relationships of trust among Sola 5 churches in a geographical region for the purpose of planting and strengthening churches.“
In February we met at ⛪️ Antioch Bible church’s new premises for the first meeting of the year. The devotional was based on Galatians 1 and brought us back to one of the Sola’s of the reformation – salvation is in “Christ alone.” We were all reminded how important it is that we believe, preach and live out the reality that our salvation is a free gift, purchased by Christ’s perfect life and sacrificial death in our place.
Though we might formally reject any notion that salvation can be gained or earned by works, it is possible to drift toward this false gospel without even realizing it. Hence the need to keep bringing ourselves and our congregations back to the biblical gospel.
Our March meeting was at ⛪️ Brackenhurst Baptist, as part of their annual “World Outreach Conference.” Over 40 pastors met together to discuss ways to foster better partnerships for planting and strengthening churches. The focus was on raising and directing finances toward church planting, a challenge in all of our churches. Discussions were vigorous and we all left with much food for thought.
